Ashland, Virginia Wedding | Audrey + Miguel
Today we are sharing Audrey + Miguel’s Ashland, Virginia Wedding. They were married on October 21, 2108, at Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Short Pump. Following their beautiful church wedding, they celebrated with friends and family at the Hanover Arts & Activities Center. Jamie shared his thoughts on their big day, as it was a special moment in his photographing career as well.
Here is what Jamie had to say:
When I photographed my first wedding at the age of 15, I never imagined how many years I would be photographing them. On this particular day, I photographed the daughter of a couple whom I had photographed their wedding. This is now my second wedding client where I have started into the next generation of recording and preserving the special events in their lives.
Audrey and Miguel’s wedding is just that, a step into the next generation’s memory preservation. I remember the day when I received the phone call to photograph this special day. Audrey’s parents, Terry and Jerry, were so excited to know that their daughter’s wedding photography would be created by me and I was very honored to have been chosen.
We started the journey by creating their stunning engagement photos at Virginia Beach and the botanical garden nearby. Miguel owns a landscaping maintenance company and these locations were very special to them. We followed with Audrey’s beautiful bridal portraits before we moved on to their actual big day. The ceremony was held in her childhood church and then to the reception at a cultural art center, set in the quaint town of Ashland. This location is a client of Miguel’s and so perfect, as Terry, Audrey’s mom, is a wonderful artist and instructor.
The day started with a few clouds, however, by the end of the ceremony, there were rays of bright sunshine streaming into the church windows, just as Audrey and Miguel kissed. It was absolutely perfect.
After a few large group shots of each family and some fun shots on the front stairs of the architecturally perfect church stoop, we headed to the reception. The Hanover Arts & Activities Center was accented with table arrangements, wedding signs, and favors – all handmade by the Audrey and Terry.
Good food, a little tequila and a second tres leches cake insured that no one would leave hungry.
During the first dance, Audrey and Miguel lit up the dance floor that was full of fog and twinkle lights. This set the stage for an evening of special toasts, dances, and traditions that intertwined both families and cultures. When Jerry danced with both this daughter and his wife it brought tears to my eyes knowing that I was there for the beginning of Terry and Jerry’s lives together. Now I was repeating the same for Audrey and Miguel.
Everyone filled the dance floor for every song. There were traditional wedding tunes, lines dances, and melodic Mexican music and dances that were enjoyed by all.
