With so many weddings being altered and postponed in light of what is going on in the world, we thought we would shed a little light with Libby & Eric’s Castle Hill Cider Wedding. We have been photographing the Lane Family for years. Libby’s wedding was the third Lane wedding we have photographed, so it was very special to us.
The Wedding Day
Rain rain go away! Well, Libby did wish for a little snowy send-off, but instead, she got a full day of rain. However, as the superstition goes, it is supposed to bring the couple good luck. Nonetheless, with the stunning background of Castle Hill Cider’s barn-like venue, and stunning fairyland garden decor the day was absolutely spectacular. Now the Lane family really knows how to have fun and throw a wedding. We have been photographing this family’s celebrations and happy occasions since before Jack, the youngest son, was born.
In true Lane Wedding fashion, the large bridal party with all guests in tow didn’t let the shift in plans to -everything indoors- damper their spirits!
Surrounded by a room full of bridesmaids and groomsmen, both Libby and Eric, prepared for their big day. Eric and the men were on one end of the venue, enjoying a few beers, and Libby and ladies were on the other end, sipping champagne. Everyone hustled to get ready as the cider tasting room patrons finished their tastings and headed out into the rain.
The silhouette of Beth and Maddie against the huge windows working diligently to make sure that Libby was perfectly dressed for Eric’s first look was one of my favorite shots of the day.
We were able to get a few quick shots of the frosted look and a few quick shots looking at the camera between the showers. However, seeing how emotional Eric was when he turned around and walked to his soon to be wife made all of that go away. It was so sweet and heartfelt. At that moment, it wouldn’t have mattered if it was snow, sleet, showers, or sunshine.
The ceremony was moved to the attic, which was warm and inviting, with cider barrels and appropriate decor. Through laughter and tears, Eric and Libby we pronounced husband and wife.
The Reception
Then everyone headed downstairs into the reception with introductions of broadway-like improvisations from the wedding party. This set the tone for a full evening of fun and celebrating!
A reflective speech by Billy, the father of the bride, started off the night with laughter and stories of little Libby’s antics as a child. Then there was a family-style dinner, including a long head table, that set the mood for togetherness and harmony. Following dinner, there were hours of non-stop dancing where everyone had an amazing evening celebrating this great couple. I can say with certainty, that a great time was had by all!
