Phipps Family Portrait Session

Just chatting with Melanie over the phone to book her family session and help her choose clothing for the girls made us smile. She is so sweet and loves her girls so much that it’s infectious. Right away, learning more about how close these two tween sisters are, we knew without a doubt that this session was going to be something extraordinary. Melanie and Derek had never experienced a true, real professional family portrait before. Sure, they’d done quick lifestyle mini-sessions, but those had not yielded that perfect shot where everyone was looking at the camera, and Melanie felt truly beautiful.

Our mission was clear: create amazing wall-worthy portraits for the Phipps family—portraits that would forever capture this moment in time.

We began the session outdoors, in a location within our garden that perfectly complemented the Phipps’ home. It was a spot that would honor the daughters and serve as a constant reminder of their love—a beautiful addition to their family’s visual history.

The outfits were spot-on—age-appropriate and stylistically perfect. We couldn’t help but admire the flow of both girls’ dresses, and those cowgirl boots? Well, they were the icing on the cake!

As we moved from pose to pose and location to location, we ensured a rich variety of expressions and interactions. Melanie and Derek would have plenty of options to choose from. But what struck us most was how the girls connected—with each other and especially with Derek. Daughters always share a special bond with their moms, but these two couldn’t love their dad more. The smile on Derek’s face as he pulled his girls close said it all: love.

The girls posed effortlessly, their expressions never wasted. And then came the final image—the girls standing on our brick pathway. It was the perfect way to conclude this session, capturing the most amazing the most amazing pensive expressions while holding hands and leaning on each other. We all instantly knew that this was going to be our favorite image.
